My Writing

Way back in the 1980s, before the internet was invented, I used to write for an American semi-prozine called Horrorstruck. Sadly, my time as the British correspondent was short-lived; the magazine folded after only six issues but it did enable me to interview authors such as James Herbert and Ramsey Campbell

Yes, this is me in 1988, when I was writing a regular news page for Horrorstruck. How did I manage without the internet, I ask myself.

My interview with James Herbert was later used for the 1988 World Fantasy Convention program booklet.

The interview was then reprinted in Stephen Jones James Herbert: By Horror Haunted, published by Hodder, in 1991. Unfortunately, the book never went into paperback, apparently because James Herbert changed publisher soon afterward.

The book is a collection of interviews and articles about the man and his work, with lots of his own illustrations.
